The traditional Pulukisi Jatra, in which a figure symbolizing Indra's mount, the elephant Airavata, is paraded around the city, has concluded in Bhaktapur.

The procession began in the evening from Lakulachhen, the site from which it traditionally starts every year. Pulukisi is made in the shape of an elephant using a bamboo frame draped in white cloth, with a person sitting inside to carry it.

Thousands of spectators gathered along the city's procession route to watch the jatra. Local jatra enthusiast Krishna Prajapati said it was enjoyable to watch Pulukisi being moved back and forth.
