Gill's double century powers India to first-ever 400-plus chase, series win over West Indies

India has won its ODI series against West Indies after successfully chasing a target of more than 400 runs for the first time in one-day international cricket history.
In the second ODI played at Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati on Wednesday, India chased down the target of 406 runs in 43.3 overs while losing just 2 wickets. With one match still to be played, India has taken an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.
Captain Shubman Gill scored an unbeaten 223 off 133 balls. He completed his double century in just 117 balls, setting the record for the fastest double century in ODI history. This is Gill's second career double century.
Rohit Sharma scored 101 runs off 75 balls and shared a 255-run partnership with Gill for the first wicket. This was Rohit's 35th ODI century. He has become the third Indian batter, after Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli, to complete 12,000 ODI runs.
West Indies, who batted first after losing the toss, scored 405 for 7, their highest-ever ODI total. Their Amir Jangoo scored 114, captain Shai Hope 104, and John Campbell 101. For India, Kuldeep Yadav, Ravindra Jadeja and Gurnoor Brar took two wickets each. Kuldeep became the ninth Indian player to complete 200 ODI wickets.
