Bronze-winning women's kabaddi team returns home from Asian Games

Nepal's women's kabaddi team, which won a bronze medal at the 20th Asian Games underway in Japan, returned home on Wednesday afternoon.
The players, who arrived in Kathmandu via Thailand on a Thai Airways flight, were welcomed at Tribhuvan International Airport by a team led by National Sports Council Member-Secretary Ramcharitra Mehta.
According to the pre-set schedule, the Nepali team was supposed to return to Kathmandu two days earlier. However, the team was forced to stay back after flooding in Thailand disrupted flights.
In the Asian Games women's kabaddi competition, Nepal defeated both Thailand and Sri Lanka to reach the semifinals. Reaching the semifinals secured Nepal's bronze medal. In the semifinal, however, Nepal lost to India, missing the chance to reach the final and settling for bronze.
Nepal's women's kabaddi team had also won bronze at the 19th edition of the Asian Games held in China. With this, the team has won bronze in two consecutive editions of the Asian Games.
Meanwhile, the Nepali karate team, which included medal winners from international karate competitions held in two different Japanese cities, also returned to Kathmandu on Tuesday night.
