Cash rewards for Asian Games bronze winners Tenzing and women's kabaddi team

The government has decided to give cash rewards to the athletes, coaches and managers who won bronze medals for Nepal at the 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan.
Communications and Information Technology Minister Bikram Timilsina said the decision was made at Friday's Cabinet meeting. Karate athlete Tenzing Sherpa and the women's kabaddi team won bronze medals for Nepal at the Asian Games. It was the women's kabaddi team's second consecutive bronze, while it was Sherpa's first medal.
Under the National Sports Development Regulation, 2079, athletes who win medals at competitions such as the Olympics and the Asian Games are entitled to cash rewards. The regulation provides 1.3 million rupees for an individual Asian Games bronze and 390,000 rupees for each athlete on a group bronze-winning team.
However, since this full provision applies only to those who win medals after clearing a qualifying stage, this round's winners will receive half the amount. Accordingly, Sherpa will receive 650,000 rupees, and each kabaddi team member will receive 195,000 rupees.
Sherpa's coach Kushal Shrestha and kabaddi head coach Parvati Rai will each receive 130,000 rupees. Karate manager Yubaraj Lama, kabaddi assistant coach Lok Bahadur Bista and manager Sharad Darshanadhari will each receive 65,000 rupees.
