Support for victims of the flooding that struck the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli areas on Bhadra 10 continues to arrive from within Nepal and abroad.
Natives of Upper Mustang living in New York, United States, have sent about $104,000, or nearly Rs 16 million, to the Prime Minister Disaster Relief Fund. The amount was raised by residents of Lomanthang and Lo-Ghekar Damodarkunda rural municipalities together with well-wishers at home and abroad, through the Lo-Nyamship Association USA Inc, based in Woodside, New York. The organization was established in 2014.
Meanwhile, the Lamjung Chamber of Commerce and Industry has collected about Rs 2.2 million worth of food grains, clothing and daily consumer goods for flood-affected families in Rasuwa. A team carrying the relief, led by chamber chairman Bharat Kumar Shrestha, left for Rasuwa on Wednesday. According to the chamber, the goods were gathered from its Besisahar, Sundarbazar and Udipur units. First Vice-Chairman Bikash Shrestha said the relief would be distributed in coordination with the Nuwakot Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Similarly, Laxmi Sunrise Capital Limited has deposited about Rs 2.157 million, combining contributions from the company and its employees, into the same fund. The company said the contribution was made under its social responsibility program.
