Concept floated to turn every local unit in Kavre into a tourism hub

The Hotel Association, Kavrepalanchok, has put forward a strategic proposal to make the district headquarters, Dhulikhel, the main tourist center and organize one-day trips from there to destinations across the district's local units.

Association chairman Prahlad Pyakurel presented the concept, which covers the state of the hotel business, investment, employment and the tourism potential of all 13 local units. The concept prioritizes 12 other special destinations in the district besides Dhulikhel.

According to the association, about 189 hotels are operating in the district, with an investment of around Rs 28 billion in the business. Of this, the association says the Dhulikhel area alone accounts for about Rs 25 billion in private sector investment.

In terms of the number of hotels, the Dhulikhel area has about 88, the Nagarkot area about 63, and Banepa about 15. The Dolalghat and Panauti areas have about seven each, Namobuddha has about six, and Palanchok has about three hotels in operation.
