'Aksharyatra–Dashak Aath' held in memory of people's poet Durgalal Shrestha

A programme titled 'Aksharyatra–Dashak Aath' was organized in Lalitpur on Tuesday in memory of people's poet Durgalal Shrestha.

The event was jointly organized by the Basanta Chaudhary Foundation and the Durgalal Literature Foundation. The programme began with the lighting of an 'aksharadeep' lamp and floral tributes.

A documentary titled 'Aksharyatra: Dashak Aath,' based on Shrestha's life, personality and creative work, was also screened. Six of Shrestha's poetry collections were launched at the ceremony, and he was conferred a citizen's honour.

The 'Aksharmaharshi Samman' award was also presented at the event. An audio-visual segment titled 'Akshar ka Chha Naya Deep' was unveiled and reviewed, and Shrestha's poems were recited during the programme.

Poet Basanta Chaudhary, describing himself as Shrestha's disciple, paid tribute through recollections and presented rubai verses. Shrestha is a celebrated poet and lyricist in both Nepali and Nepal Bhasa.
