Nuwakot journalist Niraj Poudel to receive Kamal Bahadur Bisht Memorial Award

Senior correspondent Niraj Poudel will be presented with the Kamal Bahadur Bisht Memorial Award.

The Kamal Bahadur Bisht Memorial Society selected Poudel on the recommendation of a three-member recommendation committee coordinated by writer Dr Binod Manjan. Dr Gayatri Bisht of the organisation provided information about the decision.

Poudel is a journalist from flood-affected Nuwakot and has been active in journalism for about 17 years. He mainly reports on legal matters, constitutional bodies and environmental issues.

Kamal Bahadur Bisht was born in BS 1999 in Salambutar, Shankharapur Municipality, Kathmandu. He spent 42 years of his life in civil service. Bisht, who had a deep interest in literature, published a poetry collection titled 'Laune Kath', and his individual writings have also appeared in literary magazines.
