Traffic rises on Kathmandu Valley roads as people head out for Vijaya Dashami tika

Traffic has started increasing on Kathmandu Valley roads as more people move about seeking tika, jamara and blessings from their elders on the day of Vijaya Dashami.
The capital's roads, largely quiet since Ghatasthapana, have seen a sharp rise in movement after people began wearing the red tika and yellow jamara, offered as prasad of Navadurga. Roads in the Valley were relatively empty on days such as Fulpati and Ashtami during the major Dashain festival.
Although movement of people on the roads has increased, passengers are facing difficulties because public vehicles are not operating in the Valley, according to Ujyaalo.
With a growing number of people visiting relatives and elders to receive tika, Valley roads remain busy throughout the day.
