BBC to shut two TV channels and one radio channel, cut around 2,000 jobs to reduce costs

Britain's public broadcaster, the BBC, has decided to shut down two television channels and one radio channel to cut costs. According to the BBC, the move will result in job cuts of between roughly 1,800 and 2,000 positions.
The organisation aims to save around 500 million pounds over two years. At Nepal Rastra Bank's buying rate of 202 rupees 38 paisa per pound today, this amounts to roughly 101 billion rupees.
Amid growing financial pressure, BBC Three and BBC Scotland television channels will be closed next spring and moved online. Radio 4 Extra, which airs archived talk and spoken-word programmes, will also shut down.
Earlier, the BBC had already announced cuts of around 550 positions in its news department and more than 30 in its sports department. BBC News's newly appointed director, Rachel Jupp, has proposed additional savings of around 5.5 million pounds, which could result in about 100 more job cuts.
