Partial effect of westerly winds: hills, mountains partly cloudy; light rain or snow possible in Koshi, Gandaki highlands; Tarai clear

On the Tika day of Dashain today, a partial effect of westerly winds continues across the country, keeping the mountain and hill regions partly cloudy while the weather in the Tarai remains mostly clear.

According to the Meteorological Forecasting Division, light rain or snowfall is possible this afternoon at one or two places in the mountain areas as well as in the hill regions of Koshi and Gandaki provinces.

The division has said that at night, the mountain and hill areas of Koshi and Gandaki will remain cloudy, while the weather in the mountain and hill regions elsewhere in the country will be mostly clear.

Fog and mist are expected in the morning at some places in the Tarai, but this is forecast to clear gradually, with the weather remaining clear through the day.

On Thursday, the day after Dashain, the mountain and hill terrain will again be partly cloudy while the Tarai remains clear. The division has indicated a possibility of light rain or snow at one or two places in the mountain areas of Koshi and Gandaki provinces on Thursday.

On Friday, this possibility is expected to extend to the mountain region of Karnali province, the division noted. The forecast for Friday also shows mostly clear weather in the Tarai terrain.

According to meteorologists, rain is likely in the eastern part of the country from Tuesday onward.
