Partly cloudy over hills and mountains; fog expected in Tarai tomorrow

According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, the mountainous and hilly regions of the country will see partly cloudy weather today, while some parts of the Tarai will experience mist and fog tomorrow morning.

The department said the country is currently under the partial influence of westerly winds. It issued the forecast for Kartik 1 to 3 at 8 am today.

Today, the Tarai areas of Madhesh, Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces will be partly cloudy, while the weather in the Tarai of Lumbini and Sudurpashchim will remain mostly clear.

The department said light rain or snowfall with lightning is possible at one or two places in the mountainous regions as well as the mountainous and hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki.

Tomorrow, the mountainous and hilly regions of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini will be partly cloudy, while the weather in such areas of Karnali and Sudurpashchim will remain mostly clear. There is a possibility of light rain or snowfall at one or two places in the mountainous areas of Koshi and Gandaki tomorrow.

Among major cities, Janakpur is expected to have the highest temperature, between 32 and 34 degrees Celsius. Biratnagar and Nepalgunj will see 31 to 33 degrees, Birendranagar 27 to 29 degrees, and Kathmandu 25 to 27 degrees Celsius, the department said.

Pokhara will have a temperature of 26 to 28 degrees Celsius along with a 20 percent chance of light rain with lightning. The other five cities have a zero percent chance of rain.
