With a partial effect of westerly winds over the country, light rain or snowfall with occasional lightning is possible today in one or two places in the mountainous region, the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has said.

Light rain with lightning is also forecast for one or two places in the hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki provinces. The mountains of these three provinces will be mostly cloudy, while the mountainous regions of the other provinces will be partly cloudy. Hilly areas across the country will also be partly cloudy.

While the Tarai areas of Madhesh along with Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki will be partly cloudy, the sky over the Tarai of Lumbini and Sudurpashchim will remain mostly clear.

Among major cities, only Pokhara has a 20 percent chance of rain, with a temperature expected to range between 26 and 28 degrees Celsius. The department said Kathmandu's temperature will range from 25 to 27 degrees, Birendranagar's from 28 to 30 degrees, and Biratnagar's from 31 to 33 degrees.

Temperatures in Nepalgunj and Janakpur are expected to reach 32 to 34 degrees, with no chance of rain in either city. Mist and fog are forecast for some parts of the Tarai tomorrow morning.

On the same day, light rain or snow is possible in one or two places in the mountainous areas of Koshi, Gandaki and Karnali. The hills of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini will be partly cloudy, while weather in the other hilly regions will remain mostly clear.
