The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has said the partial effect of a western low-pressure system will affect the country's weather today and tomorrow.

The department forecasts mostly cloudy skies in the mountain region today, with partly cloudy conditions in the hills. Light rain or snow is possible in one or two places in the mountain region and the hilly areas of Gandaki, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim.

Morning fog is also possible in some places in the Tarai. Tomorrow, moderate rain or snow with thunder and lightning is possible in a few places in the mountain region as well as the hilly areas of Lumbini and Gandaki. A similar possibility exists in one or two places in the remaining hills.

Tomorrow, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini, and the Tarai of Sudurpashchim will be partly cloudy, while the rest of the Tarai will remain mostly clear.

In Birendranagar, Surkhet, temperatures will range from 16 to 18 degrees Celsius, with a 20 percent chance of light rain with thunder. Kathmandu will see temperatures of 13 to 15 degrees Celsius and Pokhara 15 to 17 degrees, both partly cloudy.

Nepalgunj will see temperatures of 21 to 23 degrees, while Biratnagar and Janakpur will have 19 to 21 degrees, with morning fog forecast. Except for Birendranagar, no rain is expected in the other five cities.
