Partly cloudy over the Himalayas, rain or snow likely in hills and mountains tomorrow

The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has forecast partly cloudy conditions in the Himalayan region today, with mostly clear weather in the hilly and Tarai areas.

The department said light rain or snow is possible at one or two places in the Himalayan regions of Gandaki, Karnali and Sudurpashchim. According to the department, the country is currently under the partial influence of westerly winds along with local winds.

Tomorrow, generally cloudy conditions are expected in the Himalayan and hilly regions. The department said moderate rain or snow with lightning is likely at some places in the Himalayan and hilly areas of Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpashchim, and at one or two places in similar areas of Koshi and Bagmati. The Tarai areas of Lumbini and Sudurpashchim will be partly cloudy with moderate rain possible at one or two places, while the rest of the Tarai will be mostly clear.

According to the department, Kathmandu's temperature is expected to be around 14 degrees Celsius. Pokhara and Birendranagar are expected to see 16 degrees, Biratnagar and Janakpur 20 degrees, and Nepalgunj 21 degrees Celsius. The department said there will be morning fog in Biratnagar and partly cloudy skies in Pokhara. The department has put the chance of rain today at 0 percent in all six major cities on its list.
