Clouds and light rain or snow over Karnali, Sudurpashchim mountains; clear skies in Tarai

According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, mountainous areas of Karnali and Sudurpashchim provinces will remain mostly cloudy today, while the Tarai will have clear weather.

The department said the country is currently under the partial influence of monsoon winds along with westerly winds. Other mountainous and hilly areas are forecast to be partly cloudy. Light to moderate rain or snow with lightning is likely at a few places in the mountainous areas of Karnali and Sudurpashchim, and at one or two places in the remaining mountainous and hilly areas.

Tomorrow, weather will be mainly clear in both the hills and the Tarai. The mountainous areas of Karnali and Sudurpashchim are forecast to remain cloudy tomorrow as well, with light rain or snow possible at one or two places, while the remaining mountainous areas will be partly cloudy.

Among major cities, temperatures are forecast to reach 33 degrees Celsius in Birendranagar, Biratnagar and Janakpur. Nepalgunj is expected to see 32 degrees and Pokhara 27 degrees Celsius, the department said. Kathmandu's temperature is expected to be 26 degrees Celsius, with a 10 percent chance of light rain with lightning. The remaining five cities have zero percent chance of rain.
