Partly cloudy over hills and mountains, rain and snow likely in Karnali, Sudurpashchim ranges

According to the forecast issued by the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology at 6 pm on Asoj 26, there is a possibility of light-to-moderate rain or snow at a few places and heavy rain or snow at one or two places in the mountainous areas of Karnali and Sudurpashchim provinces on the same day.

The department said light-to-moderate rain or snow could also occur at one or two places in the mountainous parts of Gandaki and Lumbini. It added that the western wind and monsoon wind currently have a partial influence on the country's weather.

On Asoj 27, the mountainous areas of Karnali and Sudurpashchim are expected to remain generally cloudy, with light rain or snow possible at a few places. The department said the rest of the mountainous and hilly terrain is likely to be partly cloudy the same day, with light rain or snow possible at one or two places.

Weather in the Tarai, however, will remain mostly clear. The department forecasts zero percent chance of rain in all six major cities covered by its forecast.

Temperatures are expected to reach 14 degrees Celsius in Kathmandu, 16 in Pokhara and 15 in Birendranagar. Nepalgunj and Janakpur are expected to see 20 degrees Celsius, and Biratnagar 19 degrees, the department said.

Kathmandu and Pokhara will be partly cloudy, Birendranagar and Janakpur mostly clear, while Nepalgunj and Biratnagar are forecast to have morning fog.
