Nagarkot to host four-day 'Changa Chait' kite festival from Asoj 28

Nagarkot will host a four-day pre-Dashain festival called "Changa Chait" from Asoj 28 to 31.
The event, to be held at Mountain Vista Retreat in Nagarkot, aims to revive the traditional practice of kite flying that had been discontinued in recent years. According to organisers, the roughly two-decade-old tradition has been fading among the new generation amid modernisation, prompting the event.
Organisers also aim to introduce foreign tourists visiting Nepal to Nepali culture. Alongside the kite-flying competition, the festival will feature live music, cultural dance, stand-up comedy and magic shows.
Face painting, traditional pottery-making demonstrations and food stalls will also be set up. According to organisers, performances will include former Miss Nepal Usha Khadgi among other artists.
Participants will be able to taste special Dashain dishes, along with access to a heated swimming pool and jacuzzi. Transport facilities for an additional fee will be available for those travelling from Kathmandu Valley to Nagarkot.
Organisers said the festival also aims to promote tourism while making family gatherings more enjoyable.
