Putin-Witkoff meeting on ending Ukraine war; EU awaits detailed briefing

The European Union (EU) is awaiting detailed information from Washington on Wednesday's meeting between US President Donald Trump's special envoy Steve Witkoff and Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The meeting between Putin and Witkoff took place as part of a new diplomatic effort to end the war in Ukraine, which has continued for more than four years. The talks reportedly focused on a new peace proposal to end the war.

The Brussels-based EU is expecting detailed information from the American side about what was discussed in the meeting. The meeting is being viewed as the latest diplomatic initiative pushed forward by the United States to end the Ukraine war.

It appears the EU will clarify its own position only after receiving information from the United States on the points of the peace proposal and the outcome of the meeting.
