Mobile camp distributes citizenship to Chepang settlers in remote Chitwan

The District Administration Office, Chitwan has distributed citizenship certificates to local residents through a mobile camp held in remote Chepang settlements of Rapti Municipality.
According to the administration, about 90 people from the Chepang community received citizenship through the camp. The team, led by Chief District Officer Ganesh Aryal, served Rapti-13 and Rapti-12, with most recipients from Ward 13. The administration said it takes about two to three days to reach those settlements from the district headquarters.
Elderly men and women and visually impaired citizens who had long been denied citizenship due to lack of documents also received it at the camp. The team reached the settlements despite the risk of landslides during the monsoon.
According to administrative officer Antim Sinjali Magar, camps had been planned in Rapti wards 10, 11, 12 and 13. However, since sufficient documents did not arrive from wards 10 and 11, camps were held in only two wards, she said. According to her, documents for about 120 people had come in.
Voter identity cards were also made at the camp under the leadership of Bhimsen Karki, chief of the District Election Office, Chitwan. Service seekers had to walk about three to four hours to reach the ward office. They were also given snack packets at the camp.
Ward chairperson Ashok Kumar Praja of Rapti-13 had coordinated with the administration after collecting the necessary documents.
