Kathalaya's new format: Deepak Samir's story 'Aahat Ujeliharu' to be staged on Asoj 18

A story by journalist and writer Deepak Samir, 'Aahat Ujeliharu', will be staged with reading, music and silent acting.
The presentation, named Kathalaya, will be held on Sunday, Asoj 18, at 5 pm at Shilpee Theatre in Battisputali, Kathmandu. Writer Samir himself will read the story on stage.
Under the direction of art director Suman Sagarjung KC, performers will present wordless acting alongside the reading. To make the reading and acting more effective, a group led by musician Bikal Khadka will play live music on stage. Singer Sunita Karki will sing songs at intervals during the performance.
The programme is organized by Brodigy Group. Journalist Bimal Nepal is coordinating the event, while media person Bhoj Bahadur Bishwakarma is serving as advisor.
'Aahat Ujeliharu' is a story included in Samir's short story collection 'Muna Madanko Divorce Party'. Writer Samir said the story seeks to show the impact of foreign employment on Nepali society.
According to the organizers, staging stories as plays has long been a practice in Nepal. However, they claim this is the first attempt to combine reading, music and silent acting all in a single presentation.
