Valley sky clears after four days of rain, mountain ranges visible

After four consecutive days of continuous rain, Kathmandu Valley's sky cleared from Sunday afternoon, and distant mountain ranges became clearly visible in the evening.

Many took photos and videos after Manaslu, Langtang, Jugal and Gaurishankar peaks became visible from Kirtipur.

The continuous rain had increased water flow in the Bagmati and Bishnumati rivers, and road traffic was affected in various places. With the sun out, movement of vehicles and pedestrians on the roads has increased.

According to meteorologist Sanjeev Adhikari of the Meteorological Forecasting Division, rain was concentrated in areas south of Lumbini and Sudurpashchim because a low-pressure area around India's Uttar Pradesh lay there. As that system weakens, monsoon activity has also weakened in Bagmati Province including Kathmandu, the division said.

According to the forecast of the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, the country will see partly cloudy weather tomorrow, Monday. A few places in the mountain and hill regions may see thunder and lightning with light to moderate rain or snow.

The department said a few places in the Tarai of Sudurpashchim and one or two places in the Tarai of Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini may also see thunder with light to moderate rain. The department's urban forecast shows a 20 percent chance of rain in Kathmandu and 30 percent in Pokhara, while Biratnagar and Janakpur will be partly cloudy.
