Weather improves in east, very heavy rainfall warning for Gandaki, Lumbini tonight

The Meteorological Forecasting Division has urged high alert, saying "very heavy" rainfall is likely in one or two places in Gandaki and Lumbini provinces on Saturday night. There is also a possibility of strong winds.

The system that has caused continuous rainfall for three days is now centered over the central and western regions of the country. According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, weather is gradually improving in the eastern region, but the effect of rainfall continues in western Nepal. Weather in the western region is expected to improve from Sunday.

According to the department, moderate rainfall is likely until Sunday afternoon in the western part of Bagmati province, the western part of Madhesh province, and in most places in Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpashchim.

Continuous rainfall in Sudurpashchim has begun raising the water flow in rivers, streams and other water sources. Although there is no immediate need to warn of major flooding, the public has been urged to remain alert as rainfall is forecast to continue for the next two days.
