Thunderstorms and rain in hills today, weather to improve from tomorrow

The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has forecast moderate rain with thunder and lightning in the country's hilly and mountainous areas today, with the weather improving from tomorrow.

The department said the country is currently under the influence of both the monsoon winds and a western low-pressure system. Light rain is likely in a few hilly and mountainous parts of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini, and in one or two places in Karnali and Sudurpashchim. Rain is also possible in one or two places in the Tarai.

Meteorologist Nistha Niraula said there would be no heavy rain today and that the rainfall would gradually decrease. Kathmandu's temperature will range from 25 to 27 degrees Celsius, with a 40 percent chance of rain, while Pokhara's temperature will be between 27 and 28 degrees Celsius.

Tomorrow, the weather in the Tarai will be mostly clear, though some areas may see morning fog. Light rain or snow is possible in one or two mountainous and hilly places in Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki.
