Clouds expected across much of country today, heavy rain likely in Gandaki hills

The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has said most hilly and mountainous parts of the country will be cloudy today, with heavy rain possible at one or two places in the hilly areas of Gandaki province.

According to the department, the effects of both a western low-pressure system and monsoon winds are currently visible across the country. Koshi province will generally be cloudy, while the rest of the Tarai region will see partly cloudy skies.

A few places in the hilly and mountainous areas of Koshi, Karnali and Sudurpashchim may see moderate rain or snowfall with lightning. A few places in Madhesh province may also see rain with thunder.

According to the city forecast, Biratnagar has a 30 percent chance of moderate rain, with temperatures ranging from 21 to 23 degrees Celsius. Kathmandu's temperature is expected to range from 15 to 17 degrees and Pokhara's from 17 to 19 degrees, with both cities having a 20 percent chance of light rain.

Janakpur will see morning fog with temperatures between 23 and 25 degrees, and Nepalgunj between 20 and 22 degrees. The department said that tomorrow, heavy rain is likely in the hilly parts of Koshi, Bagmati and Sudurpashchim, as well as at one or two places in the Tarai area of Koshi. It noted that windstorms and hailstorms are also possible in the hilly and mountainous areas tomorrow.
