Heavy rain likely in parts of Koshi, Bagmati and Sudurpashchim today, public urged to stay alert

The Meteorological Forecasting Division has said that due to the effect of a western low-pressure system and monsoon winds, various parts of the country are likely to see thunderstorms, lightning, strong winds, hail and rain or snowfall today (Friday).

According to the division, heavy rainfall is possible in parts of Koshi, Bagmati and Sudurpashchim provinces. Since some areas may experience brief spells of heavy rain, the division has urged the public to remain cautious.

Last night, light rain occurred in some hilly areas of Gandaki and Bagmati provinces, while scattered showers were recorded in one or two places in the west.

Meteorologists say the atmosphere remains unstable, and thunderstorms, lightning and hail are likely in some areas through Saturday.
