Weather today-tomorrow: very heavy rain likely in western provinces, city temperatures

The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has forecast very heavy rain today at one or two places in Lumbini and Gandaki provinces.

According to the department, the monsoon wind currently has a partial influence from the westerly wind across the country.

A strong low-pressure system over northern Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh in India is expected to move north-northwestward and weaken within 24 hours.

Today, heavy to very heavy rain is possible at a few places in Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki, Lumbini and Karnali.

Strong winds are likely in Madhes and the Tarai areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini.

The department said the risk of very heavy rain will shift tomorrow to one or two places in Lumbini and Sudurpashchim.

Thunder, lightning, rain and snowfall are expected in the Himalayan region.

Among major cities, Pokhara has a 100 percent chance of rain, with temperatures ranging from 23 to 25 degrees Celsius.

Kathmandu has a 90 percent chance of rain, with temperatures between 20 and 22 degrees.

Nepalgunj has an 80 percent chance of rain, with temperatures between 25 and 27 degrees.

The department forecasts temperatures of 24 to 26 degrees in Birendranagar, 27 to 29 degrees in Biratnagar, and 25 to 27 degrees in Janakpur.

Biratnagar and Janakpur both have a 60 percent chance of rain.
