Rain washes out match as Nepal exit Asian Games cricket

Nepal have been eliminated from men's cricket at the 20th Asian Games, currently underway in Japan.

Nepal did not get to bowl or bat a single ball as their third quarterfinal against Sri Lanka was cancelled due to rain. It had been raining continuously since morning at Korogi Sports Park in Nishin.

The match, scheduled to start at 5:45 am Nepal time, could not even proceed to the toss. With the match called off, Sri Lanka have booked their place in the semifinals.

Nepal had finished top of their group to reach the quarterfinals. Having been in good form in T20 Internationals, Nepal were seen as a strong challenger ahead of the match.

Rain had been disrupting cricket matches throughout the tournament, and there had already been concerns that this match too could be affected.
