7.7-magnitude earthquake strikes Panama, tsunami warning issued

A powerful 7.7-magnitude earthquake struck the Central American country of Panama on Friday. The tremor was clearly felt as far as the capital, Panama City.
According to initial reports, buildings, bridges and roads have been damaged in various places, with dozens of structures collapsing.
A tsunami warning was issued immediately after the earthquake. Hundreds of frightened residents left their homes and offices for the streets and open spaces.
More than 45 aftershocks have been felt so far since the powerful main shock. Public services in various parts of the country have been disrupted due to the earthquake. Full details of the damage have not yet been made public.
