Floods and landslides disrupt 1,303 MW of electricity supply

Days of continuous rain and flooding have caused major damage to the country's power system.

According to the Ministry of Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, electricity supply equivalent to 1,303 megawatts has been disrupted.

Around 200 megawatts of production has stopped after the 220 kV transmission line along the Kaligandaki corridor was damaged.

Floods have damaged the structures and transmission towers of the Rahughat and Rahugangha hydropower projects.

Ten local levels have lost power after water entered the Malangwa substation in Sarlahi.

A landslide in Manang has blocked a 33 kV line.

Salyan district has been without electricity for three days.

About 150 Ncell towers have shut down due to the power outage.

The Nepal Electricity Authority has deployed technical teams for repairs.
