About 82 percent of the construction of the Damauli–Bharatpur transmission line for the Tanahu Hydropower Project has been completed. The line is being built as part of a project of about 140 megawatts under construction in Rishing Gaunpalika-1, Tanahu.

Project chief Shyamji Bhandari said about 94 towers must be built for the roughly 35-kilometre-long, 220 kV double-circuit line. Foundations have been laid for about 83 of them, and nearly 80 towers have been erected, he said.

Bhandari said work has picked up after the divisional forest offices in Chitwan and Tanahu granted permission to enter forest areas and cut trees.

Foundation work, tower erection, tower protection where necessary, and stringing of wires are currently underway. Wire stringing continues in Bharatpur Metropolitan City in Chitwan and Devghat Gaunpalika in Tanahu. Bhandari said about 2 km of wire has been strung so far.

Under the project's third phase, the contract to build this line has been awarded to the Indian company KEC International.
