Heavy rain likely in Sudurpashchim hills today, partly cloudy nationwide tomorrow

The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has said heavy rain is possible in one or two places in the hill regions of Sudurpashchim Province today.

According to the department, the monsoon's low-pressure trough lies around its average position. A low-pressure area formed near India's Uttar Pradesh, along with monsoon winds and westerly winds, is affecting the entire country.

Today, generally cloudy weather is forecast in Sudurpashchim Province and in the mountain regions of other provinces. Some places in the mountain and hill areas of Karnali and Sudurpashchim may see thunder and lightning with light to moderate rain or snow.

Scattered rain is also possible in some places in the Tarai of Sudurpashchim and in the Tarai of Madhesh and other provinces.

The department said the entire country will be partly cloudy tomorrow. A few places in the mountain and hill regions may see light to moderate rain or snow tomorrow, and a few places in the Tarai may see light to moderate rain.

According to the department's urban forecast, Birendranagar and Pokhara will have a temperature of 18 degrees Celsius with a 30 percent chance of rain. Kathmandu will have a temperature of 17 degrees with a 20 percent chance of light rain and lightning. Nepalgunj will have a temperature of 22 degrees with a 20 percent chance of rain. Biratnagar will have a temperature of 24 degrees and Janakpur 22 degrees, both partly cloudy with no chance of rain, the department said.
