As Dashain nears, rush to leave Kathmandu Valley for home increases

As Dashain approaches, the number of people leaving the Kathmandu Valley to celebrate the festival at their permanent homes has started to rise. The Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office estimates that about 800,000 people will leave the valley during Dashain, Tihar and other festivals this year.
According to the office's spokesperson, DSP Naresh Raj Subedi, crowds of passengers at the capital's major bus parks and at the exit points from the valley are growing day by day. Transport entrepreneurs and the police have both begun preparations to make travel smooth.
