Public Accounts Committee forms 9-member sub-committee to study poll police uniform purchase

The House of Representatives' Public Accounts Committee has formed a 9-member sub-committee to study the procurement of uniforms for election police, known as "Myadi Police."
At a committee meeting held at Singha Durbar on Friday, the sub-committee was formed under the coordination of RSP MP Manish Jha.
MPs Aen Mahar, Yogesh Gauchan Thakali, Aryan Rai, Khagendra Sunar, Khushbu Oli, Ramesh Kumar Malla, Ganesh Dhimal and Mahendra Bahadur Shahi are members of the sub-committee.
According to committee chairperson Bharat Khadka, the sub-committee must study the matter and submit a report within two months.
For the House of Representatives election held last Falgun, Nepal Police had procured uniforms for election police in Magh. For that election, Nepal Police and the Armed Police Force had recruited about 150,000 election police.
MP Khagendra Sunar has repeatedly raised questions alleging irregularities in the procurement. At Friday's meeting, he expressed dissatisfaction, saying that although he had requested related documents within 15 days, members had not even been told whether the files had arrived. There were differences among MPs over whether to form an investigation committee or a study committee.
