RPP and UML sharply criticize government on final day of parliamentary session

At the final meeting of the House of Representatives' ongoing session on Friday, opposition parties RPP and CPN-UML sharply criticized the government's six-month tenure.
RPP parliamentary party leader Gyanendra Shahi said his party, though a supporter of the government, was not its slave. He said the party would stand with the government, from the streets to parliament, if it took action against corrupt officials, but would not stop opposing wrong steps.
He accused the government of being indifferent toward taking action against those involved in violence during the Gen Z movement and in the vandalism of Singha Durbar and the parliament building. He demanded answers from the government on where investigations into the Ncell, Giribandhu Tea Estate, Bhutanese refugee and Chinese aircraft procurement cases had reached.
He also urged the government to develop industries domestically to end the compulsion for youths to go abroad for employment, and to provide relief and rehabilitation for flood victims.
UML parliamentary party leader Ram Bahadur Thapa "Badal" accused the government of heading toward a fascist path. He said the ruling side tends to impose decisions through numerical strength rather than dialogue, and that opposition suggestions were not incorporated into bills. He clarified that although he had accepted defeat in the last election, that was not surrender.
UML MP Nita Ghatani accused the government of focusing on stunts rather than work, saying the country cannot be built by blaming the older generation.
