Congress convention: about 7,700 delegates, no pomp, elections to begin from Asoj 21

About 7,700 delegates are set to participate in the 15th general convention of the Nepali Congress.
At a press conference held at the party office in Sanepa on Friday, party spokesperson Dev Raj Chalise said preparations for the convention had reached their final stage.
According to him, the convention will be inaugurated at Khula Manch in Kathmandu on Asoj 18, followed by closed sessions at the National Hall on Asoj 19 and 20. After the closed sessions pass proposals on statute amendments, the election process is scheduled to begin on Asoj 21 and 22.
Spokesperson Chalise said General Secretary Pradip Paudel, coordinator of the Statute Amendment Committee, was still collecting suggestions. He said discussions would also be held on the position of former president, since the statute currently has no provision on it.
Since the country is in a state of crisis, the party has said there will be no floats, decorations or pomp at the convention. The code of conduct issued by Raju Katuwal, member secretary of the Central Election Committee, states that printed campaign materials, including flex boards, banners and posters, are completely banned.
Candidates will only be allowed to publicize their agendas through social media and online platforms, and a digital board will be installed at the convention venue. Delegates will be provided breakfast, lunch and dinner at Bhrikutimandap. Although coordination has been made for accommodation in the Airport, Gaushala, Thamel, Kalanki and New Bus Park areas, delegates themselves will have to bear the cost.
