Cloudy in hills and Himalayas, moderate rain in some areas, morning fog in Terai

According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, the Himalayan and hilly areas of Koshi and Bagmati will generally remain cloudy today. The Himalayan and hilly areas of Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudurpashchim, and the Terai across the country, will remain partly cloudy.

Moderate rain may fall in one or two places in the hilly and Terai areas of Koshi, Bagmati and Gandaki today. The department said fog will form in the Terai in the morning.

Westerly winds have a partial influence on Karnali, Sudurpashchim and the western parts of Gandaki and Lumbini, while monsoon winds have a partial influence on the rest of the country.

Tomorrow, moderate rain or snowfall may occur in a few places in the Himalayan and hilly areas of Koshi, Bagmati, Gandaki and Lumbini. Moderate rain or snowfall is also possible in one or two places in the higher areas of Karnali and Sudurpashchim. Light rain may fall in one or two places in the Terai of those four provinces.

According to city-wise forecasts, temperatures in Kathmandu will range from 19 to 21 degrees Celsius, with a 20 percent chance of light rain with thunder. Pokhara will see 22 to 24 degrees and a 30 percent chance of rain. Biratnagar will see 23 to 25 degrees with a 20 percent chance of rain.

Janakpur will see 24 to 26 degrees and Nepalgunj 23 to 25 degrees, with fog expected in the morning in both. Birendranagar will see 20 to 22 degrees with partly cloudy skies and no chance of rain, the department said.
