TU directed to act against professors who went on study leave and did not return

The government has directed Tribhuvan University (TU) to take action against professors who went abroad on study leave but did not return and have long been out of contact.
Education and Sports Minister Sasmita Pokharel gave the directive at a general meeting of the TU Senate held on Thursday.
Minister Pokharel said the process of recovering allowances and collecting fines from professors who misuse study leave must be made effective.
She directed that TU write to the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) and other relevant agencies for further action against professors who remain out of contact and do not cooperate with the process.
At the meeting, Minister Pokharel also urged that reclaiming TU land under encroachment be taken forward as a top priority.
