Integrated preliminary report on Bhotekoshi floods handed to chief minister

A preliminary estimate shows that floods in the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli river systems on Bhadau 10 caused damage worth about 13.44 billion rupees in five major sectors alone.
Mahesh Bhattarai, provincial secretary at the Ministry of Internal Affairs, Law and Cooperatives, submitted the integrated preliminary report to Bagmati Chief Minister Kiran Thapa Magar on Thursday.
The report compiles details from 15 thematic areas, with physical infrastructure, agriculture, education, industry and business, and drinking water and irrigation identified as the five main affected sectors.
Roads, bridges and government buildings suffered damage worth about 5.69 billion rupees. Schools sustained losses of about 4.98 billion rupees, while industrial and commercial establishments lost about 2.97 billion rupees.
The report also records damage of about 52.79 million rupees to drinking water and irrigation systems, and about 28.59 million rupees to crops, livestock and farms.
The report noted that the floods caused major damage in Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Dhading.
