Congress to cover representatives' extra day's expenses as convention runs long

With the general convention running a day longer than planned, the Nepali Congress will itself cover representatives' extra day of lodging and meal expenses.

Party treasurer Umesh Shrestha shared this information at a press conference on Thursday.

According to him, the party had aimed to conclude the 15th general convention by Asoj 22. But voting for the new leadership was pushed to Friday after delays in printing ballot papers, extending representatives' stay in Kathmandu.

Shrestha said the party would make the necessary arrangements so that representatives do not bear any additional financial burden.

Previously, the party had provided only meals and snacks, with representatives required to pay for their own hotel stay.

About 7,300 representatives are in the capital for the convention, which began on Asoj 18 and has been held at Khula Manch and the National Assembly Hall.

The extended convention has placed an additional financial burden on the party's coffers.
