Energy Ministry spends only 3.8 percent of budget in two months, Minister Shrestha unhappy

Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Minister Birajbhakta Shrestha has expressed dissatisfaction with the work of ministry staff. He voiced this dissatisfaction at a review meeting held at the ministry on Wednesday.

In the two months of the current fiscal year, the ministry has spent only 3.8 percent of its budget. Minister Shrestha said that even though two and a half months have passed since the start of the fiscal year, financial progress has been lower than expected.

Minister Shrestha has directed the concerned officials to speed up implementation of the budget and programs. "It is not enough to just make decisions," he said. "Results are needed."
