Fuel import price from India up Rs 20 per liter, but NOC decides to keep prices unchanged

Nepal Oil Corporation (NOC) has decided to keep its current retail selling prices unchanged even though its purchase price for petroleum products from Indian Oil Corporation (IOC) has increased.

According to NOC, the new price list sent by IOC on Wednesday raised the price by Rs 20.44 per liter for petrol and Rs 20.21 per liter for diesel.

NOC said prices are being kept unchanged in view of the situation created by the extraordinary flood and landslide in Bhotekoshi, the upcoming festival season, and consumer interests. The corporation said it would continue selling at existing prices without placing an additional burden on consumers.

NOC said that by not adjusting prices, it would incur a loss of Rs 3.2 billion over 15 days.
