Congress Deuwa faction names coordinators in 77 districts, separate ward conventions from Thursday

The faction of Nepali Congress former president Sher Bahadur Deuba has begun separate preparations for the party's 15th general convention. For this, it has appointed presidents and coordinators in all 77 districts. Haresh Prasad Mahato has been named coordinator for Sarlahi.

The establishment faction has accelerated the process of selecting representatives for the central general convention. Meanwhile, the Deuba faction is set to begin its own convention process from Thursday (Asoj 15). Party president Gagan Thapa became president at the special general convention held in late Poush.

Former general secretary Dr. Shashank Koirala is the coordinator of this faction's 15th general convention organizing committee. He has called the ward conventions an important stage for the party's organization and democratic practice. He has urged party members to rise above personal preferences and prejudices to make the convention successful and move forward united.

Koirala has said the risk of a formal split in the party is high. However, he said party unity remains his bottom line. He said that although president Thapa has tried to persuade him, he will not abandon his colleagues.
