Djokovic reaches China Open final after Medvedev is disqualified

Novak Djokovic of Serbia has reached the final of the China Open tennis tournament.
In the semi-final played on Monday against Russia's Daniil Medvedev, the 39-year-old Djokovic won the first set 7-5. Leading 5-3 in the second set, Djokovic was serving to finish the match, with the game at 15-15. During that game, Medvedev struck a ball that had already gone out toward the spectators' gallery, and he was then disqualified by default and ruled out of the match.
Because of this decision, Djokovic secured his place in the final before the match was completed. He will face Australia's Alex de Minaur for the title.
The China Open is an ATP 500-level tournament. Djokovic has previously won it six times. He last lifted the title in 2015, beating Rafael Nadal in the final.
