Navi Pillay awarded Nobel Peace Prize

Norway's Nobel Committee has announced that this year's Nobel Peace Prize will be awarded to Navanethem Navi Pillay.
Pillay is a senior South African jurist and human rights advocate. The committee said the honor was given for her struggle against apartheid rule.
The committee also cited her contribution to promoting international law and establishing peace as a key basis for the award. It further recognized her role in protecting human rights and strengthening the global justice system.
This year's announcement had drawn particular attention after US President Donald Trump expressed interest in the prize.
With this announcement, the winners in the categories of medicine, physics, chemistry, literature and peace for this year have all now been made public.
