Electricity Authority offers extra discount to customers paying bills online

The Nepal Electricity Authority has decided to give domestic customers who pay their electricity bills online an additional 0.5 percent discount.

The authority has introduced a program called Smart Pay Reward for this purpose. According to authority board member Anshukiran Shahi, this benefit will be added to the existing 2 percent discount available for online payments. Under this, customers paying bills online will now receive a total discount of 2.5 percent.

The program has been implemented for an initial six-month period. Shahi said the decision was made to encourage greater use of digital payment for bills, adding that it would make digital payment more convenient and attractive.

The authority has urged customers to take advantage of the facility, saying online payment saves customers' time.
