The government has prepared to resume approvals for land-plotting (kitta kaat).

According to Baburam Adhikari, chairman of the Narayani Land and Housing Entrepreneurs' Association, Minister for Land Management, Cooperatives, Federal Affairs and General Administration Pratibha Rawal said preparations have been completed and a decision would come from the upcoming cabinet meeting.

A delegation of land entrepreneurs from Chitwan, led by Adhikari, met Minister Rawal in Sauraha on Tuesday, where she was attending various programs in Chitwan.

The delegation complained that the halt in land-plotting approvals has slowed down the real estate business. Since land classification in Bharatpur has not been completed, entrepreneurs have demanded that the deadline be extended by one year for now so that plotting approvals can resume. Chairman Adhikari said the sector should be made orderly and active since the government earns significant revenue from land transactions. The delegation also urged the government to end policy uncertainty around land plotting, bring clarity to land-use policy, and review provisions related to capital gains tax and revenue.
