NSL objects to NFL announcement: 'We have not authorised another league'

The Nepal Super League (NSL) has stated that it has not approved the running or formation of any second league in Nepali football.
League managing director Shreyans Karki made the statement in a press release issued on Tuesday. The release claims that NSL alone holds the right to run the country's only nationally recognised city-based football league.
The reaction came after seven NSL clubs announced that they would organise the Nepal Football League (NFL). It has been made public that the first edition of the NFL will begin from Falgun 1.
The clubs have said they decided to run their own league because the NSL organisers showed no interest in holding a competition. Although NSL had earlier announced that its league would start from September 5, neither has the league taken place nor has any notice of postponement been issued.
NSL has stated that it remains firm on its long-term plan, rights and responsibilities. The release says that only cooperation and mutual respect, with players and supporters at the centre, can secure a bright future for Nepali football.
