Parliamentary special committee directs govt to make Nepal's COP31 participation result-oriented

The Parliamentary Special Committee on the Impact of Climate Change in the Himalayas, Climate Justice and the Bhotekoshi-Trishuli Disaster has stressed that Nepal's participation in the upcoming COP31 summit should be made result-oriented.
At its meeting held on Wednesday, the committee directed the government that while raising the voice for climate justice and environmental justice at the summit, it should also address issues of national interest. The committee said the issue of easing access for Nepali products to world markets should also be raised.
At the meeting, Joint Secretary Dr. Maheshwar Dhakal of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forests and Environment informed the committee that the government is preparing to formulate a new climate policy.
The committee was formed to study the impact of climate change in the Himalayan region and the disaster in the Bhotekoshi-Trishuli area.
