The Ujyalo Nepal Party has submitted a memorandum to the Election Commission demanding that the upcoming local-level elections be conducted under a non-partisan system and that voting rights be ensured for Nepali citizens living abroad. Party chair Kulman Ghising handed over the memorandum to the Chief Election Commissioner.

In the memorandum, the party has demanded arrangements allowing Nepali citizens abroad for foreign employment, study, business or other purposes to vote in the local-level elections of the area where they hold permanent residence.

Speaking to reporters after submitting the memorandum to the commission, chair Ghising said there was no possibility of unity with any other party. Asked specifically about the possibility of joining forces with Harka (Sampang), he likewise said there was no such possibility.

Ujyalo Nepal Party's demand comes amid preparations for the local-level elections.
